White Paper

Wouldn't it be nice?

How about your own Company's secure collaborative workspace ("super blog") where users can add, remove, and edit every page using a web browser. It's so terrifically easy for people to jump in and revise pages that this would be the de-facto tool of choice for shared memory of small and large, multiple-participant projects and organizational know-how.

What is a Wiki?

According to Wikipedia, the world largest wiki site:

A Wiki ([ˈwiː.kiː] <wee-kee> or [ˈwɪ.kiː] <wick-ey>) is a type of website that allows users to add, remove, or otherwise edit and change most content very quickly and easily.

And that is it! A customizable place in the Internet where Users can edit content, upload files, communicate and collaborate.

Why is a Wiki site different from a usual hosted site?

When using any of the Wiki systems you do not have to care about technical details (like HTML language, how to edit pages, how to create forum for your community etc.). We take care of these things. You can easily concentrate on the Content, growing your Community etc.

On every page (where you have permissions to) you can find the edit button - click it and you can edit content of the page! That is it! We provide an easy to learn syntax that our software converts into valid HTML pages. Simply edit content, click save and your changes are published within seconds.

Looks like?

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;" />... a super Blog

... a Facebook for business use

... a company white board and bulletin board, full of Post-it stickers

Benefits?

  • Intellectual Property (IP) is centralized and shared
  • Similar to Groupware, Central Repository of documents and discussions related to a projects involving several members, and requiring enrichment from several parties, internal or external.
  • an Index of Shared Memory, with links everywhere so that information can be found and retrieved when you need it.
  • Convenient browser-based tool, accessible from anywhere without client software or licenses, allowing access to a company encyclopedia allowing enrichment

Wikipedia builds on transparency, simple linking, and a low barrier to entry for crowds of people to be involved in editing and authoring. We can use these same qualities with just two or three people for a different outcome: a shared workspace and, in effect, a shared memory.

Advantages to Using a Wiki

• Good for writing down quick ideas or longer ones, giving you more time for formal writing and editing.
• Instantly collaborative without emailing documents, helps keeping the group in sync.
• Accessible from anywhere with a web connection (if you don't mind writing in web-browser text forms).
• Your archive, because every page revision is kept.
• Exciting, immediate, and empowering  (everyone has a say).

What will be stored in there?

Documents, notes, thoughts, attachments, meeting minutes, ...

Use lots of attachments, uploading PDFs and images when you can, and keep lots of references and links on the wiki. Don't keep any supporting material on your computer.
